MOUNT HOLLY, NJ.- Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw reported that on Thursday, April 13, 2023, Members of The United States Marshals Service New York/ New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended Gregory Berry, 22, at a West Deptford, New Jersey Residence in connection with the January 16, 2022, Fatal Shooting of Ezekiel Sanders in the Parking Lot of The Fox Meadow Apartment Complex.
Accordingly, Mr. Berry was Charged with First Degree Murder; First Degree Murder During the Commission of a Crime; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. After being Processed on the Charges, Mr. Berry was Lodged in The Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly, New Jersey pending a Pretrial Detention Motion.
The Arrest and the Charges stem from an investigation when during the evening hours on January 16, 2022, Members of The Maple Shade Police Department responded to The Fox Meadow Apartment Complex on a report of Shots Fired.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Ezekiel Sanders, 32, on Gardenia Drive suffering from Multiple Gunshot Wounds. Mr. Sanders was immediately transported to Jefferson Hospital in Cherry Hill, New Jersey where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The investigation revealed that after the Shooting, a vehicle sped away from the Apartment Complex. Detectives were able to identify the vehicle and the vehicle's occupants.
In June 2022, Detectives were able to locate and Arrest Teon Macklin-Goodwine a Co-Defendant of Mr. Berry as one of the Suspects in the Shooting Death of Mr. Sanders. Accordingly, Mr. Macklin-Goodwine was Charged with First Degree Murder; First Degree Robbery; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Second Degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons. Mr. Macklin-Goodwine has remained Detained in The Mount Holly Jail since his June 2022 Arrest.
