Arrest Made In Paterson Shooting

FOLLOWING AN INVESTIGATION, A 24-YEAR-OLD MAN ARRESTED FOR THE MARCH 10th PATERSON SHOOTING

     " Rashane D. Lewis Was Arrested By Police On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, For The Shooting Of A 20-Year-Old Paterson, New Jersey Man."

PATERSON, NJ.- Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes reported that a 24-Year-Old Paterson, New Jersey man has been Arrested and Charged in connection with the March 10, 2023, Shooting that Injured a 20-Year-Old Paterson, New Jersey man.


     On March 10, 2023, at just around 9:00 p.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to the area of 12th Avenue and William Street in Paterson on a report of a Shooting. Upon arrival, Police Officers were able to locate a Crime Scene, and found a 20-Year-Old Paterson man, suffering from a Non-Life Threatening Gunshot Wound.


     The man was immediately transported to Saint Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson for Treatment.



      Based on an investigation by Members of The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office in conjunction with The Paterson Police Department were able to identify Rashane D. Lewis as The Shooter. Mr. Lewis was apprehended by Paterson Police Officers on Tuesday, in the area of 12th Avenue and East 22nd Street in Paterson, New Jersey.


      After being taken into custody, Mr. Lewis was Formally Charged with First Degree Attempted Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; Third Degree Terroristic Threats; and a Disorderly Persons Offense of Resisting Arrest.


      Mr. Lewis was Processed on The Charges and Remanded to The Passaic County Jail. The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office has Filed a Pretrial Detention Motion to have Mr. Lewis Detained pending the resolution of The Charges against him. If convicted on the Charges Mr. Lewis will Face a Prison Term of up to Twenty Years in New Jersey State Prison.
