JERSEY CITY MAN NABBED IN VIRGINIA IN CONNECTION WITH MARCH 4, 2023 HOMICIDE

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- A Jersey City man who Fled New Jersey to avoid capture after Fatal Shooting a 34-Year-Old Jersey City man last Saturday, was Arrested yesterday in Newport News, Virginia, The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office reported.
Brandon Montague, 24, of Jersey City has been Charged with One Count of First Degree Murder; One Count of Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and One Count of Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Mr. Montague was taken into Custody yesterday, March 9, 2023, in Newport News, Virginia by Members of The United States Marshals Service. Montague is being Detained in The Newport News Jail on a Fugitive From Justice Warrant, pending Extradition to New Jersey.
On Saturday, March 4, 2023, at approximately 10:10 p.m., Members of The Jersey City Police Department responded to 2 Bergen Avenue in Jersey City on a report of a Shooting. Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, later identified as Tyreef Robinson, 34, of Jersey City, New Jersey, Unresponsive from a Gunshot Wound to his Chest. Mr. Robinson was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.
A Subsequent autopsy by The Hudson County Regional Medical Examiner determined that The Cause of Death to be a Gunshot Wound and The Manner of Death to be Homicide.
