Rahway New Jersey Man Charged

RAHWAY MAN WANTED FOR MURDER IN THE SHOOTING DEATH OF A ROSELLE MAN ARRESTED IN NEWARK

     " Brandan Melford Has Been Charged With Murder & Weapons Offenses In Saturday's Fatal Shooting Of Jack Harris."

RAHWAY, NJ.- On Tuesday, November 15, 2022, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Rahway Police Director Jonathan Parham announced that a Rahway, New Jersey man was Arrested Monday night in Newark, New Jersey in connection with the Fatal Shooting of a Roselle man that occurred Saturday afternoon in Rahway, New Jersey.


     On Saturday, November 12, 2022, at approximately 12:39 p.m., Members of The Rahway Police Department responded to The 1400 Block Witherspoon Street in Rahway on a report of a Shooting. Upon arrival, Police Officers found Jack Harris, 44, of Roselle, New Jersey having succumbed to a Gunshot Wound. Mr. Harris was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.



     Brandan Melford, 31, of Rahway has been Charged with One Count of First Degree Murder; One Count of Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and One Count of Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Mr. Melford was processed on the Charges and remanded to The Essex County Correctional Facility, pending a First Appearance and Detention Hearing.


     A fast moving joint investigation by Members of The Union County Homicide Task Force and The Rahway Police Department resulted with Mr. Melford being identified as the Shooter and person responsible for the Death of Mr. Harris.


     " We are grateful for the collaboration from our partner law enforcement agencies who assisted our Office in locating and apprehending the suspect," Prosecutor Daniel said. " And we hope that this arrest can bring some comfort to all those grieving Mr. Harris."
