HACKENSACK, NJ.- On Wednesday, November 23, 2022, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the Arrest of Anderson Casilla Furcal,27, of Elizabeth, New Jersey on a single Charge of Receiving Stolen Property.

On Tuesday, November 22, 2022, Members of The Bergen County Narcotics Task Force initiated a Traffic Stop on a suspected stolen vehicle traveling through Bergen County. Detectives determined that it had been stolen over two years ago from its owner in New York. The reason for Mr. Casilla Furcal to evade apprehension was due to a VIN Switching or a VIN Cloning Scheme.

A vehicle identification number are small plates attached to motor vehicles that provide permanent identification of that vehicle, regardless of the ownership or license plates. Detectives were quickly able to identify that the vehicle identification number plates were fraudulent resulting in the arrest.

Mt. Casilla Furcal was taken into custody on the scene and formally Charged with One Count of Third Degree Receiving Stolen Property. Casilla Furcal was processed and released on a summons pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.

" The Rules Of The Court Require Us To Include A Statement, That States: The Charges Outlined In This Publication Are Merely Accusations And The Defendant And Or Defendants Are Presumed Innocent Unless And Until Proven Guilty Beyond Reasonable Doubt."
