CONNECTICUT MAN CHARGED WITH FILING A FALSE INSURANCE CLAIM ON A DIAMOND RING

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Friday, November 25, 2022, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced that a 44-Year-Old Connecticut man has been Arrested and Charged by Members of The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Insurance Fraud Unit, following an investigation that determined he submitted a Falsified Insurance Claim on a Diamond Ring in order to receive reimbursement from his insurance carrier.
Duke Quarshie, 44, of Norwalk Connecticut, was Charged with One Count of Third Degree Insurance Fraud. Mr. Quarshie was Arrested at The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office in Jersey City, New Jersey on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. Mr. Quarshie was processed on the Charged and released on a summons pending his First Appearance which has been scheduled for Wednesday, December 7, 2022 in Hudson County Central Judicial Processing Court.
The investigation determined that Mr. Quarshie was issued a payment from Assurant Insurance Company in 2016 for a claim regarding a Diamond Ring valued at $27,000. On June 2, 2021, Mr. Quarshie, who was a resident of North Bergen, New Jersey at the time, Filed a Second Claim for the same Diamond Ring.
