Two Bergen County Women Charged

TWO PALISADES PARK WOMEN HAVE BEEN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH THE DEATH OF AN 11 MONTH OLD INFANT

     " Elida Ofelia Medina-Ramos & Enma Medina Have Been Charged In The December 7, 2021 Death Of  An 11-Month-Old Infant In Palisades Park, New Jersey."

PALISADES PARK, NJ.- On Tuesday, February 15, 2022 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the Arrest of Elida Ofelia Medina-Ramos, 73, of Palisades Park, New Jersey on Charges of Aggravated Manslaughter, Unauthorized Practice of Medicine and Child Endangerment, and Enma Medina, 38, of Palisades Park, New Jersey on a Child Endangerment Charge. The Arrests are the culmination of an investigation by The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and The Palisades Park Police Department under the direction of Officer in Charge Sean Lee.


     On Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at approximately 8:30 a.m., Members of The Palisades Park Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call on a report that an Eleven-Month-Old Infant was having a Medical Episode. Upon arrival, Police Officers found the Infant Unconscious and not Breathing. The Infant was immediately transported to Hackensack University Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased.


     An investigation conducted by Detectives from The Palisades Park Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit determined that Ms. Medina-Ramos Administered Medical Care to the Infant, which resulted in the Infant’s Death. Ms. Medina allowed Ms. Medina-Ramos to Administer the Medical Care to the Infant.


     On Monday, February 14, 2022, Ms. Medina-Ramos was Arrested and Charged with First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter; Third Degree Unauthorized Practice of Medicine; and Third Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Ms. Medina-Ramos was Processed on The Charges and remanded to The Bergen County Jail pending a First Appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.


     On Monday, February 14, 2022, Ms. Medina was Arrested and Charged with Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Ms Medina was Processed on The Charges and  released on her own recognizance.


" The Rules Of The Court Us To Include A Statement, Which States: The Charges Outlined In This Publication Are Merely Accusations And The Defendant And Or Defendants Are Presumed Innocent Unless And Until Proven Guilty Beyond Reasonable Doubt."
