Englewood New Jersey Man Charged

ENGLEWOOD NEW JERSEY MAN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH THE BURNING OF A VEHICLE 

     " John Young Of Englewood Charged With Aggravated Arson & Certain Persons Not To Possess A Handgun."

ENGLEWOOD, NJ.- On Wednesday, February 16, 2022 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the Arrest of John Young of Englewood, New Jersey on Gun Possession and Arson Charges. The Arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and The Englewood Police Department under the direction of Officer in Charge Deputy Chief Thomas Greeley.


     On Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at approximately 9:14 PM, Members of The Englewood Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call on a report of an Sport Utility Vehicle on Fire. Englewood Police and Fire Personnel arrived on scene and extinguished  the fully involved vehicle fire. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit Arson Task Force was requested to respond and an investigation ensued.


     A joint investigation conducted by Detectives from The Englewood Police Department and The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office determined that Mr. Young set Fire to the Vehicle. A subsequent Court Authorized Search of Mr. Young's residence uncovered a Handgun.


On Wednesday, February 16, 2022, Mr. Young was Arrested and Charged with First Degree Certain Persons Not to Possess a Handgun; Second Degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons; Second Degree Aggravated Arson; and Second Degree Arson. 


     Mr. Young was Processed on The Charges and remanded to The Bergen County Jail pending a First Appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
