Woman Sentenced To State Prison

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP WOMAN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR CRASH THAT KILLED MOTHER AND INFANT SON

     " Nancy Cavanaugh Has Been Sentenced To 21 Years In New Jersey State Prison For Causing A Collision While Driving Under The Influence Of Alcohol & Narcotics That Killed A Mother & Infant Son."

MAYS LANDING, NJ.- On Monday, January 10, 2022 Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill announced an Egg Harbor Township woman has been Sentenced on Charges of Aggravated Manslaughter in connection to a Motor Vehicle Collision that Killed a Mother and Her Son in 2019.


     Nancy Cavanaugh, 68, of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey was Sentenced Yesterday, January 10, 2022 to Twenty One Years in New Jersey State Prison under The No Early Release Act, which requires Ms. Cavanaugh to Serve Eighty Five Percent of her term of incarceration before coming eligible for Parole.



     Ms. Cavanaugh had Pled Guilty on September 30, 2021 to Two Counts of First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter. 


     In October, 2019, Ms. Cavanaugh was Charged with Two Counts of First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter in connection to a Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision, that occurred on February 26, 2019 on English Creek Avenue in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey.


     The ensuing investigation determined that Ms. Cavanaugh was traveling on English Creek Avenue when the vehicle she was operating crossed over into the oncoming lane, and collided Head-On with a vehicle driven by Alisha Williams, 31, of Somers Point, New Jersey. Both Ms Williams and her Ten Month Old Son, A.C. were Killed in The Crash.


     The investigation further determined that Ms. Cavanaugh was Speeding and Under The Influence of Multiple Substances, including Alcohol and Alprazolam when her car crossed into the oncoming lane, Causing the Death of Ms. Williams and her Son.
