KEANSBURG, NJ.- On Wednesday, January 6, 2022 Acting New Jersey Attorney General Andrew J. Bruck announced that The Attorney General's Office is conducting an investigation into the Fatal Police involved Shooting of of a suspect in a Keansburg Pharmacy Robbery.
On Thursday, January 6, 2021, at approximately 3:21 p.m., Members of The Keansburg Police Department responded to multiple 911 Emergency Calls of a Robbery in progress at a Pharmacy located at 199 Main Street in Keansburg, New Jersey.
Upon arrival, Police Officers encountered a male suspect who lunged at Police, Stabbing an Officer. Multiple Officers fired at the suspect and striking the suspect, the suspect was pronounce deceased at the scene.
The investigation is being conducted pursuant to Attorney General's Directive 2019-4, which implements the statutory requirements that The Attorney General's Office conduct the investigation of any Death that occurs during an encounter with a Law Enforcement Officer while the Officer is acting in his official capacity.
