TRENTON NEW JERSEY MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH THE DECEMBER 18, 2021 SHOOTING DEATH OF A TRENTON MAN

TRENTON, NJ.- On Wednesday, January 12, 2022 Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri announced a Trenton man has been Arrested and Charged for a December 2021 Fatal Shooting that occurred on Garfield Avenue in Trenton, New Jersey.
Tevin Laster, 27, of Trenton has been Charged with First Degree Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Mr. Laster was Arrested and taken into custody by Members of The Mercer County Tactical Response Team, The U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force, The Mercer County Homicide Task Force, and The Mercer County Narcotics Task Force. Mr. Laster was processed on the Charges and Remanded to The Mercer County Correctional Center.
The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office has filed a Pretrial Motion to have Mr. Laster detained pending the resolution of the Charges against him, which will be heard in State Superior Court in the upcoming days.
The Charges are the result of an investigation conducted by The Mercer County Homicide Task Force in conjunction with The Trenton Police Department.
On Saturday, December 18, 2021, at approximately 1:40 a.m., Members of The Trenton Police Department responded to The 400 Block of Garfield Avenue on a Multi Round Shotspotter Activation. Upon arrival, Police Officers located a male victim, later identified as Quashawn Kelley, in the rear of a residence on Garfield Avenue having sustained multiple Gunshot Wounds.
Mr. Kelley was immediately transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased a short time later.
