Jersey City Teenager Charged

JERSEY CITY TEEN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH THE DECEMBER 16, 2021 FATAL SHOOTING OF A 16 YEAR OLD JERSEY CITY TEEN

     " 17 Year Old Jersey City Teen Charged With Murder & Related Weapons Offenses In The Death Of Pedro Rodriguez."

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Monday, December 27, 2021 Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced that a Jersey City, New Jersey Teenager wanted in connection with the Death of 16-Year-Old Pedro Rodriguez, who was Fatally Shot on Communipaw Avenue in Jersey City on December 16, 2021 has been Arrested by Members of The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit.


     On Monday, December 27, 2021, at approximately 2:00 p.m., a 17-Year-Old Teen from Jersey City was Arrested and Charged after surrendering himself to Homicide Unit Detectives at The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City. The Teen was Arrested without incident and will be remanded to The Morris County Juvenile Detention Center pending his first appearance.


     The 17-Year-Old has been Charged with First Degree Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.


     On Thursday, December 16, 2021, at approximately 11:45 a.m., Members of The Jersey City Police Department responded to the area of 600 Communipaw Avenue in Jersey City, New Jersey on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, Police Officers found an unresponsive male victim at that location with apparent gunshot wounds. The injured male, later identified as Pedro Rodriguez, 16, of Jersey City, had succumbed to his injuries, and was pronounced deceased at the scene at approximately 12:00 p.m. The Regional Medical Examiner determined the Cause of Death to be Multiple Gunshot Wounds and the Manner of Death to be Homicide.


     The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from The Jersey City Police Department.
