36-YEAR-OLD BERGENFIELD MAN CHARGED WITH THE ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A CHILD UNDER THE AGE OF THIRTEEN

BERGENFIELD, NJ.- On Wednesday, December 1, 2021 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the Arrest of Victor Chitay, 36, of Bergenfield, New Jersey on Sexual Assault and Child Endangerment Charges. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and The Bergenfield Police Department under the direction of Chief Mustafa Rabboh.
On Monday, November 29, 2021, The Bergenfield Police Department contacted The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office regarding the Sexual Assault of a Child younger than Thirteen.
An investigation was initiated by The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and The Bergenfield Police Department. During the investigation, it was determined that the Victim was Sexually Assaulted by Mr. Chitay on more than one occasion.
As a result of the investigation, on Monday, November 29, 2021, Mr. Chitay was Arrested and Charged with Three Counts of First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; One Count of Second Degree Sexual Assault by Contact; and One Count of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Mr. Chitay was processed on the offenses and transported to The Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
