PRINCETON, NJ.- On Monday, November 8, 2021 Princeton Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstance surrounding the early November 7, 2021 Sunday afternoon Fatal Car Crash on Princeton-Kingston Road that claimed the life of a 15-Year-Old Newark Teen and a 61-Year-Old Kendall Park, New Jersey. The crash has also left a 14-Year-Old Newark Teen hospitalized in Critical Condition.
On Sunday, November 7, 2021, at approximately 12:40 p.m., Members of The Princeton Police Department responded to the 100 Block of Clover Lane on a report of Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft. Upon Arrival, Police Officers encountered a victim who reported that Three Unknown Individuals entered his vehicle in an attempt to steal the vehicle, which was park in the driveway. After encountering the victim the Three Suspects fled the scene, driving a 2015 Black Jeep Grand Cherokee, later determined that it had been stolen out of Pequannock, New Jersey.
While investigating the Attempted Theft, Members of The Princeton Police Department were advised that the Jeep Grand Cherokee was observed travelling West on Clover Lane, followed by a 2015 Land Rover Range Rover. It was reported at that time that the Range Rover had just been Stolen from a Dodds Lane residence.
The investigating Officer returned to his Patrol Vehicle and began to follow the Range Rover on Clover Lane. The Jeep Grand Cherokee drove of in an unknown direction. The driver of the Range Rover after noticing the Police vehicle tailing him, accelerated the vehicle as the Officer tried to conduct a Motor Vehicle Stop. A pursuit ensued, which was later terminated by The Princeton Police Officer, due to the reckless manner that the Range Rover was being driven, avoiding potential harm to the community.
At approximately 1:09 p.m., Members of The Princeton Police Department responded to Princeton-Kingston Road in the area of Carnegie Drive on a report of a Motor Vehicle Crash.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the 2015 Black Jeep Grand Cherokee wanted in connection with the earlier Attempt Theft, driven by a 15-Year-Old Teen was driving East on Princeton-Kingston Road when it crossed the Double Yellow Line, and Struck Head-On by a 2016 Acura RDX driven by Jodi Marcou who was travelling West.
Ms. Marcou and the 15-Year-Old Teen were Killed instantly in the Crash and were pronounced deceased at the scene. A 14-Year-Old Teen who was a passenger in the Jeep Grand Cherokee sustained serious injuries. The Teen was immediately transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Princeton, New Jersey where he remains hospitalized in Critical Condition.
