MORRIS COUNTY NARCOTICS TASK FORCE INVESTIGATION CULMINATES IN THE ARREST OF TWO AND SEIZES A LOAD HANDGUN

     "Maurice A. Goodgame Of Landing, New Jersey & Matthew Canfield Of Mt. Arlington, New Jersey Arrested & Charged In Narcotics Investigation."

MORRISTOWN, NJ.- On Tuesday, October 19, 2021 Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Christoph Kimker, Sheriff James M. Gannon, and Mt. Arlington Police Department Chief Edward LaBruno announced the Arrests of Maurice A. Goodgame, AKA “Tony,” and Matthew Canfield by The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Special Enforcement Unit / Narcotics Task Force and The Mt. Arlington Police Department.


     On Wednesday, October 13, 2021, Members of The Narcotics Task Force and The Mt. Arlington Police Department conducted an operation that resulted in the Arrests of Mr. Goodgame and Mr. Canfield. The operation resulted in the seizure of a .45 Caliber Handgun Loaded with Hollow Point Ammunition, Fentanyl Pills, and approximately $10,000 US Currency, within Mt. Arlington Borough.


     Mr. Goodgame, 26, of Landing, New Jersey, has been Formally Charged with the following crimes on warrant complaints and lodged in The Morris County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing: Third Degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Fentanyl); Third Degree Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Fentanyl); Second Degree Unlawful Possession of Handgun; Second Degree Possession of a Firearm (handgun) While Committing a Controlled Dangerous Substance Offense; Fourth Degree Possession of Hollow Point Bullets; Third Degree Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Fentanyl); Third Degree Money Laundering; and Second Degree Certain Person Not to Possess Weapons.


     The Morris County Prosecutor's Office has filed a Detention Motion with The Court based on the above Charges and the fact that Mr. Goodgame was enrolled in the Drug Court Program at the time of his Arrest, a violation of his participation.


     Mr. Canfield, 18, of Mt. Arlington, New Jersey, has been Formally Charged on a complaint summons with Third Degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Fentanyl). Mr. Canfield was processed on the Charge and released pending future Court Proceedings.


     The investigation was conducted by The Morris County Narcotics Task Force, including Morris County Sheriff’s Officer Sergeant Edward Zienowicz, who is assigned to the task force.
