Police Standoff In Aberdeen Ends Peacefully

MONMOUTH COUNTY AUTHORITIES BRING PEACEFUL RESOLUTION TO SATURDAY MORNING STANDOFF

     " After A Nearly Five Hour Aberdeen Standoff An Armed Suspect Peacefully Surrenders To Monmouth County Authorities On Saturday, September 4, 2021."

ABERDEEN, NJ.- On Saturday, September 4, 2021 Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced that an armed 45-year-old Aberdeen, New Jersey man was taken into custody after surrendering to Monmouth County Authorities, bringing a nearly five hour standoff to a peaceful resolution.



     On Saturday, September 4, 2021, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Members of The Aberdeen Police Department responded to the home of Wilbert Hickman located on Wilson Avenue in Aberdeen, New Jersey. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a distraught Hickman barricaded in his garage armed with a machete, a sword, a nail gun, and other materials such as lighter fluid.


     The Aberdeen Police Department with the assistance of The Monmouth County Emergency Response Team and The Monmouth County Rapid Deployment Force were able to establish and maintain open communications with Mr. Hickman.


     Following lengthy negotiations, Mr. Hickman surrendered to authorities, and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment. Charges are pending against Mr. Hickman.


     No injuries were reported, and Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey thanked all Local and County Emergency, Fire, and Police Personnel for their efforts in bringing a this incident to a peaceful conclusion.
