PLYMOUTH, GB.- Police in Southwest England are continuing to investigate the mass shooting that has left six people dead, including the suspected shooter, in the City of Plymouth on Thursday which authorities are calling the worst non-terrorist related shooting since 2021.
Devon and Cornwall Police said in a statement on Twitter that several other individuals were receiving treatment following the shooting. They declared a Critical Incident but did not provide details of what occurred in the Keyham District of The City.
Police have confirmed that six people have died in the shooting in Keyham and Plymouth. More people are being treated for their injuries in the hospital.
Emergency Services Personnel, responded to the incident on Thursday around 6:10 p.m. local time. Upon arrival, Police Officers found two women and two men deceased, Police said. Another man, believed to be the suspect was also deceased at the scene. All are believed to have died from gunshot wounds. Another woman was treat at the scene for gunshot wounds, but later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
Police named the shooter as 23-year-old Jake Davison on Friday. During a press conference, Devon and Cornwall Police Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer described the shooting spree that spread across multiple locations, in front of terrorized residents in the Surfside City.
Davison first went to an address on Biddick Drive in Keyham, where he killed a woman known to him, according to Sawyer. He then left the house and entered Biddick Drive, shooting and killing a young girl, as well as a male relative of the child. Further along the road he shot two local residents, who are hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
Sawyer further stated, that Davison then entered local parkland, killed another man and shot the woman who later died at the hospital, before turning the gun on himself.
Police have not yet established a motive for the shooting. YouTube confirmed that it has removed an account associated with Davison. "He is on Social Media, and that will be part of the investigation," Sawyer said during the press briefing.
