CLIFTON POLICE OFFICER INDICTED ON MULTIPLE COUNTS OF SEXUAL OFFENSES AGAINST A CHILD IN CLIFTON NEW JERSEY

CLIFTON, NJ.- On Friday, August 13, 2021 Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announced that a Grand Jury sitting in Passaic County, New Jersey has returned an indictment against Clifton Police Officer Frank Castro-Ramirez, 40, from Clifton, New Jersey on multiple counts of Sexual Offenses Against a Child.
The Passaic County Grand Jury returned the Indictment, Charging Mr. Castro-Ramirez with Sexual Offenses against a Child that took place at a residence in Clifton, New Jersey. Mr. Castro-Ramirez was indicted on Two Counts of First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; Two Counts of Second Degree Sexual Assault; Two Counts of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and Two Counts of Third Degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact.
The sentencing exposure if convicted on First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault is Ten to Twenty Years in New Jersey State Prison with a 85% term of service before parole eligibility pursuant to The No Early Release Act; on Second Degree Sexual Assault it is Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison with 85% term of service before parole eligibility pursuant to The No Early Release Act; on Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child it is Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison; and on Third Degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact it is Three to Five Years in New Jersey State Prison. Mr. Castro-Ramirez will be subject to Parole Supervision for Life and Megan’s Law Registration Requirements once he completes his custodial sentence.
The Honorable Marybel Mercado-Ramirez, J.S.C., previously granted the State’s motion for pretrial detention of the defendant. Mr. Castro-Ramirez will be scheduled for an arraignment hearing at a future date in State Superior Court.
