PATERSON NEW JERSEY MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH THE SEXUAL ASSAULT OF TWO CHILDREN

PATERSON, NJ.- On Friday, August 13, 2021 Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announced the arrest of Samuel Garrison, 71, of Paterson, New Jersey. Mr. Garrison was arrested on Thursday, August 12, 2021 after an investigation conducted by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit
Mr. Garrison has been Charged with One Count of Second Degree Sexual Assault; Two Counts of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and One Count of Third Degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact.
On Thursday, July 15, 2021, The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office received a report of two children, a 10- year-old and a 16-year-old, who had disclosed being sexually assaulted by Mr. Garrison. The children disclosed being assaulted by Mr. Garrison at a residence in Paterson, New Jersey. During the investigation, Prosecutor’s Office detectives interviewed both victims and multiple witnesses resulting in Mr. Garrison’s arrest.
If convicted on the charges, the sentencing exposure on Second Degree Sexual Assault it is Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison with 85% term of service before parole eligibility pursuant to The No Early Release Act; on Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child it is Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison; and on Third Degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact it is Three to Five Years in New Jersey State Prison. Mr. Garrison will also be subject to Parole Supervision for Life and Megan’s Law Registration Requirements, upon completion of his custodial sentence.
The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office filed a motion for pretrial detention and is asking that Mr. Garrison be detained in the Passaic County Jail pending the resolution of the case. The detention motion will be scheduled before a Superior Court Judge next week.
