CAMDEN, NJ.- On Friday, August 20, 2021 Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez announced that Detectives are actively investigating the Beating Death of a Camden, New Jersey man.
On Thursday, July 22, 2021 at approximately 12:00 a.m., the victim, Eric Ortiz, 60, of Camden, New Jersey, waived down a New Jersey Transit Bus in the area of Broadway and Pine Street and advised the driver that he had been assaulted.
Mr. Ortiz was transported by ambulance to Cooper University Hospital, where he continued to receive medical treatment until he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, August 19, 2021.
The Gloucester, Camden, Salem County Medical Examiner determined the cause of death was Blunt Force Trauma, and the manner of death to be homicide.
