Arrest Made In Freehold Fatal Shooting

MANALAPAN NEW JERSEY MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH FATAL DRIVE-BY SHOOTING IN FREEHOLD NEW JERSEY

     "Lamin Conteh Of Manalapan New Jersey Has Been Arrested In Connection With Monday's Drive-By Shooting That Injured One & Claimed The Life Of Reashaun Billingsley Of Freehold."

FREEHOLD, NJ.- On Tuesday, August 24, 2021 Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey and Freehold Borough Police Chief Craig Dispenza announced the arrest of Lamin Conteh, 23, of Manalapan, New Jersey, in connection with the Monday night fatal Drive-By Shooting that claimed the life of Reashaun Billingsley, 18, of Freehold, New Jersey and injured another individual.


     Mr. Conteh has been formally Charged with First degree Murder; First Degree Attempted Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose; and Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.



     On Monday, August 23, 2021, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Members of The Freehold Borough Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call for a reported shooting occurring outside of a Lloyd Avenue residence, within The Borough.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers found Reashaun Billingsley, as well as another male victim inside of the residence. Mr Billingsley was unconscious, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Billingsley was immediately transported to Centra State Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 6:04 p.m. The second male victim was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his leg.


     An investigation conducted by The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office in conjunction with The Freehold Borough Police Department determined that Mr. Billingsley and the second victim were seated on the front porch of the residence when a sedan approached them. At that time, the rear seat passenger, later identified as Mr. Conteh opened fire on the two men, striking both and causing them to flee inside of the residence.


     Mr. Conteh was apprehended on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at 2:10 p.m. in Manalapan, New Jersey and was lodged in The Monmouth County Correctional Institution, pending a Detention Hearing in State Superior Court. Conteh, if convicted on the charges will face a term of Life in Prison.
