ARREST MADE IN CONNECTION TO JULY 3, 2021 HOMICIDE AT 159 FRANKLIN STREET PATERSON, NEW JERSEY

PATERSON, NJ.- On Thursday July 8, 2021, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announced that based upon an investigation by The Paterson Police Department in conjunction with The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office, Jeremiah Rosado, 18, and Imeir Tucker, 24, both men from Paterson, New Jersey, were arrest on July 6, and July 8, 2021, in connection to the Homicide that took place on Saturday July 3, 2021 at 159 Franklin Street in Paterson, New Jersey.
Mr. Rosado and Mr. Tucker are both Charged with First Degree Murder; First Degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Handgun for an Unlawful Purpose; and Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Handgun.
At approximately 10:02 p.m. on Saturday July 3, 2021, Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to 159 Franklin Street in Paterson, New Jersey on a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, Police Officers located Juan Garcia, 28, of Paterson, lying on the sidewalk with apparent gunshot wounds. Paterson Police Officers immediately began providing medical attention to the victim, and requested an ambulance. Upon arrival of Medical Personnel, Mr. Garcia succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The subsequent investigation revealed that Mr. Rosado and Mr. Tucker were among the individuals responsible for the Murder of Mr. Garcia. Mr. Rosado was arrested on Thursday July 8, 2021, at approximately 11:20 a.m., by The Paterson Police Department at a Tire Shop located at East 22nd Avenue and Park Avenue in Paterson, New Jersey, without incident. Mr. Tucker was also arrested without incident on Tuesday July 6, 2021, at approximately 3:55 p.m. by The Patterson Police Department, when he reported to Paterson Police Headquarters.
The Sentencing Exposure for First Degree Murder is Thirty Years to Life in New Jersey State Prison, on First Degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder is Ten to Twenty Years in New Jersey State Prison, on The Second Degree Weapons Charges individually are Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison with a mandatory term of service before Parole eligibility.
The State has filed a Motion for Pretrial Detention for both defendants that will be heard in State Superior Court.
