Suspended Paterson Police Officer Is Back On City's Payroll

A SUSPENDED PATERSON POLICE OFFICER AFTER BEING CHARGED WITH ALLEGED CRIMINAL OFFENSE IS BACK ON CITY'S PAYROLL BEFORE THE OUTCOME OF CASE

     " Spencer Finch Who Was Suspended After His Arrest On Alleged Official Misconduct & Assault Charges Has Been Returned To City's Payroll Pending Termination Proceedings."

Paterson, NJ.- A Police Officer in Paterson, New Jersey who was arrested on charges in connection to an alleged assault while the Officer was on duty back in late May, is back on The City's Payroll despite Termination Proceedings by City's Mayor.



     Until last week, Paterson Police Officer Spencer Finch of Mahwah, New Jersey was suspended without pay after the Officer was Charged with Second Degree Official Misconduct and Aggravated Assault, as well as Tampering with Public Records. In accordance to the Officer's Police Union Contract, The City of Paterson has placed Finch back on the Payroll Roster.


     Paterson's City Mayor Andre Sayegh is moving forward to terminate Finch, prior to the Adjudication of Criminal Charges pending against the Officer in State Superior Court.


     The Officer from Mahwah, New Jersey, was accused of beating an individual on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, while Finch was on duty and had responded to a Domestic Violence call. 


     According to a prior statement, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes sated that Finch allegedly struck the victim in the face, and hit the victim multiple times with his flashlight. Following the assault, Finch is accused of filing a fabricated police report in connection to the incident.
