WASHINGTON, DC.- A New Jersey Man was taken into custody after he allegedly drove his SUV towards a group of people at The Washington Monument, early Saturday Evening. He is scheduled to make a first appearance on Monday, July 5, 2021 in Federal Court.
The incident which happened at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2021, in the Northeast Section of The Washington Monument grounds, according to United States Park Police.
Authorities said, Jack Dessin, 38, of New Jersey has been charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Destruction Of Federal Property.
Dessin suffered minor injuries and was taken hospital in custody, no pedestrians were injured in the incident, Police reported.
