HILLSIDE, NJ.- On Friday, July 23, 2021 Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel announced that a fatal shooting which occurred late Thursday evening is under investigation.
The victim in the shooting has been identified as 31-year-old Steven Zimmerman of Hillside, New Jersey.
On Thursday, July 22, 2021, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Members of The Hillside Police Department responded to the 1400 Block of North Broad Street in Hillside. Upon arrival, Police Officers found Mr. Zimmerman, who had sustained serious injuries, according to the initial investigation. Mr. Zimmerman was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting is being led by The Union County Homicide Task Force and assisted by The Hillside Police Department, Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit and The Union County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Unit.
