Arrests Made In November, 2020 Homicide

TWO SOUTH JERSEY MEN HAVE BEEN ARRESTED FOR THE ALLEGED MURDER OF BRIDGETON MAN IN NOVEMBER OF 2020

     " Jerry Crawford Of Atlantic City, New Jersey & Yusuf Waites Of Bridgeton, New Jersey Have Been Charged In The Death Of Davion Scarborough."

BRIDGETON, NJ.- On Friday, July 23, 2021 Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae announced that on Thursday, July 22, 2021, Criminal Complaints were authorized charging Jerry Crawford, 25, of Atlantic City, New Jersey and Yusuf Waites, 25, of Bridgeton, New Jersey with First Degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder in connection with the homicide of Davion Scarborough of Bridgeton, New Jersey.



     On November 9, 2021 at approximately 10:00 p.m., Members of The Bridgeton Police Department responded to the area of South Burlington Road in Bridgeton, for a report of shots being fired.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers located the body of Davion Scarborough lying on a dirt path, in a field near the area. It was determined that Mr. Scarborough had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.


     An ensuing investigation revealed that Jerry Crawford and Yusuf Waites had accompanied Mr. Scarborough as they left The Burlington Manor Apartments, and walked through the field.


     Crawford and Waites are presently being held in The Cumberland County Jail. The State has filed Pretrial Detention Motions for both defendants which will be heard in State Superior Court on Wednesday, July 28, 2021.


     The investigation remains active and ongoing.
