ELIZABETH, NJ.- On Friday, July 23, 2021 Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel announced that a Grand Jury sitting in Union County, New Jersey has returned an indictment against an Elizabeth man, accused of murdering a stranger with a blunt object last summer.
Oliver I. Trarax-Lopez, 21, of Elizabeth, New Jersey has been indicted on the Charges of First Degree Murder and Two Second Degree Weapons Offenses in connection with the death of 37-year-old Newark, New Jersey resident, Nobora C. Agudelo.
On Sunday June 28, 2021, at approximately 2:35 a.m., Members of The Elizabeth Police Department responded to a report of suspicious activity, in the area of East Broad Street and North Broad Street in Elizabeth's Downtown area. Upon arrival, Police Officers located an adult female, who had sustained severe head injuries, according to Union County Homicide Task Force Supervisor and Assistant Prosecutor Scott M. Peterson, who is prosecuting the case.
The woman later identified as Ms. Agudelo, was pronounced deceased at the scene, a subsequent autopsy revealed that the cause of death to be blunt force trauma, and the manner to be homicide.
An investigation led by The Union County Homicide Task Force in conjunction with The Elizabeth Police Department and The Union County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Unit resulted in Trarax-Lopez being identified as a suspect in the case. Trarax-Lopez was Criminal Charged on Wednesday, August 5, 2021, at which time his whereabouts remained unknown.
Trarax-Lopez remained at large for more than three-weeks, and on August 27, 2020 Members of The Union County Homicide Task Force assisted by The New York City Police Department and The U.S. Marshals Service, arrested Mr. Trarax-Lopez at a diner in The Murray Hill section of Manhattan, New York.
