PATERSON MAN INDICTED ON CHARGES OF INVASION OF PRIVACY

CLIFTON, NJ.- A Passaic County Grand Jury has returned an indictment, this past week against Juan Mejia, 46, of Paterson, New Jersey, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes.
The investigation, conducted by The Clifton Police Department and The Passaic County's Sexual Investigation Unit, uncovered that Mr. Mejia, while hidden in a women's bathroom stall at a Clifton Bookstore, secretly recorded two women at separate times who were occupying adjoining stalls.
The investigation further uncovered, in December of 2019, Mr. Mejia placed a hidden camera in the bathroom of a home, located in the City of Paterson, and recorded images of two children, while using the bathroom.
No date has been set for the arraignment of Mr. Mejia on the charges, according to court officials.
The defendant, is currently in custody in The Passaic County Jail, pending adjudication of the charges.
