GAS PRICES CONTINUE TO CLIMB, EVEN AS COLONIAL PIPELINE GOES BACK ONLINE.
" As Colonial Pipeline's Systems Return, New Jersey's Gas Prices Rise Overnight By $ 0.03 Statewide."
Late on Thursday May 12th, and with yesterday's announcement from Colonial Pipeline, that their operational systems would be returning fully online, why then are gas prices continuing to climb through out the Garden State. The reason for increases might be due to the caveat, from Colonial Pipeline that even though they are fully online, it may take weeks to workout all the issues in their systems.
Although, as reported overnight that gas prices increased by $0.01 per gallon statewide, we found from every station we visited in the early morning hours, statewide prices actually increased by $ 0.03 at the pumps.
Today, from the northern, to southern sections of the state, pump prices varied from $ 2.99 to $ 3.19 per gallon, with higher increases at certain stations. As reported by The Washington Post, the national price average today is at $ 3.05 per gallon. New Jersey's average price is at $3.09 per gallon for regular gas. Many stations, such as Exxon and Shell had prices posted up to $ 3.29 and $ 3.37 per gallon for regular, depending on different regions throughout the state.
As prices continue to climb, New Jerseyans could see another increase of $ 0. 21 per gallon at the pumps, by the same time next week per. With the possible increases by Memorial Day reaching as high as $ 3.59 to $ 3.65 per gallon, some industry analyst forecast.
