BIDEN CONTINUES TO EXPLOIT CHILDREN, AS HE MEETS WITH DACA RECIPIENTS IN THE OVAL OFFICE TODAY.
" As President President Biden Meets With DACA Recipients At The White House Today, "To Preserve And Fortify DACA," Once Again Exploiting Children, To Push His Immigration Reform, Whatever That May Be, " What About The Uncertainty Of The Over 22,000 Children Presently In DHS Custody."
During his campaign, President Biden had pledged to protect those often described as " dreamers, " that were brought to the United States illegally as children, and their families by reinstating a Obama era policy that preventing them from being deported.
As Biden meets today with six immigrants who benefited from the program, today over 22,000 unaccompanied youth remain in limbo, within the Health and Human Services system along with Department of Homeland Security.
Today's Oval Office meeting comes as Biden looks to push Congress into passing legislation in codifying the Deferred Action of Childhood Arrivals program, that was instituted by then President Obama, by executive action in 2012. The program provided limited protections for immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas had stated in March his agency was issuing a rule to " Preserve And Fortify DACA, " But a Texas Court challenge, could invalidate the protections established under Obama. Former President Donald Trump tried to phase out the program. The United States Supreme ruled last year that Trump could end the program, but he did so improperly.
Biden has made a broader call for immigration reform that centers around establishing a pathway to citizenship for eleven million undocumented immigrants, an effort that faces tough odds in the closely divided Congress. But Biden has made clear that passing legislation to enshrine DACA, should be the floor for action on immigration.
" If you don't like my plan, let's at least pass what we agree on," Biden said in his address before a joint session in Congress last month. " Congress needs to pass legislation this year to finally secure protections for dreamers, the young people who have only known America as their home."
Although the dreamers need protection, Biden needs immediately to address the present growing numbers of unaccompanied youth arriving at our southern border everyday. At least the dreamers had parents when they arrived.
Biden needs to stop exploiting these innocent children to promote his immigration policies.
