New Brunswick Police Arrest City Man

 NEW BRUNSWICK ARREST MAN IN CONNECTION WITH TWO SHOOTINGS

      " A City Man Has Been Charged In Connection With Two Shootings."

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ- A 22-year-old city man has been charged with attempted murder, in connection with two recent shootings in New Brunswick. 


     Nelson Benitez was arrested on Friday May 21st and charged with Attempted Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes, and Possession of an Assault Weapon, in connection with a shooting that occured on May 17th.


     Police responding to a call, discovered Kevin Almya, 18, of New Brunswick shot multiple times in the back, near the corner of Redmond Street and Lee Avenue.


     Police stated during their investigation they were able to connect Benitez to another shooting that occured in the 100 Block of Townsend Street on March 21st. 


     According to a press statement from New Brunswick Police Officials, Salvin Hernandez, 35, of New Brunswick, was shoot in the leg.


     Benitez in that incident has been charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes.
