SHOOTINGS AND HOMICIDES SPIKE IN NEW JERSEY OVER THE WEEKEND

NEW JERSEY- Shootings and homicides increased throughout the state over the weekend.
New Jersey State Police responded to a home located on the 1000 Block of East Commerce Street in Fairfield Township, in Cumberland County, shortly before midnight on Saturday evening.
Upon arriving, State Police found a 30-year-old and a 25-year-old woman dead from gunshot wounds. Twelve other adults were seriously wounded in the event.
As of this morning, no suspects were in custody, and conditions of the injured were unavailable at this time, the investigation is ongoing.
In Paterson five people were injured in a shooting early Sunday morning.
The shooting took place around 1:40 a.m. at a gathering i n the vicinity of Hillman and East Main Streets, according to police.
Four Patterson residents were hospitalized, one in critical condition, another shooting victim refused medical treatment at the scene.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, according to Passaic County Prosecutor.
Further in Paterson, a 35-year-old woman was shot dead early Sunday morning, according to City Police.
Stephanie Caro, a Paterson resident was found shot near a home located in the 100 Block of Butler Avenue around 1:30 a.m., the Passaic County Prosecutor stated in a release. A 35-year-old man was found a few houses away, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Caro was pronounced dead at the scene, the man was transported to Saint Joseph's Medical Center, for treatment of his wounds. No other information was released.
In Newark a 28-year-old man was fatally in the city Friday afternoon, police reported, this makes him the fourth homicide victim in Newark this week.
The victim Charles Pridgen, Jr., 28 was fatally shot in the 100 Block of Blum Street at around 3:43 p.m., The Essex County Prosecutor stated in a release on Saturday. Pridgen a Newark resident was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
No arrests have been made in this incident, and the investigation is ongoing at this time.
Further, in Newark a man was killed in a stabbing Saturday morning, making him the fifth homicide victim this week.
An investigation is underway after a man was fatally stabbed in the city early Saturday morning, according to authorities.
Police responded to the 100 Block of Parker Street, upon their arrival, officers found " a male suffering from an apparent knife wound," according to police the man was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead around 2:35 a.m..
The victims identity was not released, and no other information was available at this time.
