Man Found Dead In River

HUDSON COUNTY HOMICIDE UNIT INVESTIGATING THE DEATH OF A MAN FOUND IN THE PASSAIC RIVER

KEARNY, NJ.- On Friday, March 11, 2022 Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the Death of a man who was found deceased in the Passaic River in Kearny, New Jersey.



     On Thursday, March 10, 2022, at approximately 6:19 p.m., Members of The Kearny Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call on a report of a man was found floating in the Passaic River in the area of Passaic Avenue and the Belleville Turnpike. The Kearny Police Department and the Kearny Fire Department arrived at the scene and confirmed the lifeless body of a man had been recovered. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.


     The man has not yet been identified. The Cause and Manner of Death of are pending the findings of The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Kearny Police Department are actively investigating this case. Mother Arrested In Child Abuse Case

JERSEY CITY, NJ On Wednesday, March 9, 2022, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced that a Mother Charged in a North Bergen Child Abuse Incident was taken into Custody by Members of the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force and The New York City Police Department Arrested Shaqwana Baker, 21, for her involvement that gravely injured her 3-Year-Old Daughter.



     Ms. Baker was Arrested at approximately 11:55 a.m. in the area of West 37th Street and 10th Avenue in New York, New York. Ms Baker and her boyfriend, Edward Smith, 29, of Far Rockaway, New York, have both been Charged with Second Degree Aggravated Assault; and Two Counts of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.


     On Sunday, January 23, 2022, Members of The New York City Police Department was notified by New York University Langone Hospital that Ms. Baker brought her 3-Year-Old Daughter to the facility with Life Threatening Injuries. The child was later transported to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Bellevue Hospital, where she continues to receive medical treatment. 


     An investigation by The New York Police Department and Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit determined the 3-Year-Old Girl was the victim of Child Abuse and was injured while staying at a North Bergen Motel with Ms. Baker and Mr. Smith. The Girls Injuries are expected to be Permanent and Life Altering.


     Mr. Smith was Arrested on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at The Hudson County Correctional Facility, where he was being held pending a detention hearing on additional Criminal Charges. The Honorable Paul M. DePascale, J.S.C. Granted The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office motion for Pretrial Detention on Wednesday, March 9, 2022. Ms. Baker is currently in Custody in New York and is awaiting Extradition to Hudson County.

Browns Mill Man Sentenced To Prison

MOUNT HOLLY, NJ.- On Thursday, March 10, 2022 Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced that a 28-Year-Old Browns Mills, New Jersey man on Wednesday was Sentenced to Fifteen Years in New Jersey State Prison for Sexually Assaulting a Young Girl and recording it with his cell phone.



     Cody Rodriguez, 28,  will be required to serve the entire term before becoming eligible for parole under the sentence handed down by The Honorable Philip E. Haines, J.S.C. Mr. Rodriguez Pled Guilty in Superior Court in September 2021 to First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault.


     The Investigation began in March 2021, after Mr. Rodriguez showed the Child Sexual Abuse Material on his cell phone to a friend. The person who viewed it then informed the victim’s parents, and they contacted The Pemberton Township Police Department.


     The investigation determined that The Sexual Assaults occurred on multiple occasions during 2020. Mr. Rodriguez was acquainted with the victim and her family.


     “We applaud the person who took action after becoming aware of these horrendous photos and videos,” Prosecutor Coffina said. “Anyone who has reason to believe that a child is being abused, in any fashion, should immediately contact police. We must protect those who often are unable or afraid to seek out help on their own.”

Monroe New Jersey Man Charged

MONROE TOWNSHIP MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER IN CONNECTION WITH THE DEATH OF A SIX YEAR OLD CHILD

TOMS RIVER, NJ.- On Wednesday, March 9, 2022 Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Barnegat Township Police Chief Keith A. Germain announced the Arrest of Christopher Gregor, 29, of Monroe Township, New Jersey. Mr. Gregor has been Charged with First Degree Murder, in connection with the Death of a Six-Year-Old Boy on April 2, 2021, at Southern Ocean Medical Center in the Manahawkin section of Stafford Township, New Jersey.



     On April 2, 2021, Members Officers of The Stafford Township Police Department responded to Southern Ocean Medical Center in reference to the Death of a Six-Year-Old Boy, later identified as C.M. On April 3, 2021, a post-mortem examination was performed by the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office, and it was determined that C.M. sustained injuries due to Blunt Force Trauma. 


     In the course of investigating the Child’s Death, Detectives from The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Squad and Barnegat Township Police Department discovered evidence that Mr. Gregor had committed acts of Abuse against the Child in Barnegat Township on March 20, 2021. Mr. Gregor was Charged with Secon Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child on July 7, 2021. 


     Though initially lodged in The Ocean County Jail, Mr. Gregor was subsequently released as a consequence of New Jersey Bail Reform.


     On Thursday, March 3, 2022, The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office received a report from the State’s Expert Witness which indicated that C.M. Died as a result of Blunt Force Impact of The Chest and Abdomen, and determined the manner of the Child’s Death to be Homicide. 


     An extensive investigation conducted by The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Barnegat Township Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, determined that C.M. was in the custody of Mr. Gregor at the time he sustained his Life-Ending Injuries, and that Mr. Gregor is the individual responsible for the Child’s Death.


     On March 9, 2022, Mr. Gregor was taken into custody by Detectives from The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force, Sea Bright Police Department, and Barnegat Township Police Department. Mr. Gregor is currently lodged in the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.

Paterson Man Shot Dead

BERGEN COUNTY AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING YESTERDAY'S SHOOTING DEATH OF A MAN IN LODI

LODI, NJ.- Last Night Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and The Lodi Police Department are actively investigating a Shooting Homicide that occurred on Victor Street in Lodi, New Jersey.



     On Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at approximately 4:31 p.m., Members of The Lodi Police Department responded to a residence located a 9 Victor Street in Lodi, on a report of Shots being Fired.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a male victim, later identified as Anthony DeLeon, 26, of Paterson, New Jersey who had sustained Multiple Gunshot Wounds. Mr. DeLeon was immediately transported to Hackensack University Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased a short time later.


     The investigation is being conducted by The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and The Lodi Police Department under the direction of Chief Donald Scorzetti.

Former Police Officer Sentenced To Prison

FORMER LONG BRANCH POLICE OFFICER SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR OPERATING A METH LAB

FREEHOLD, NJ.- On Monday, March 7, 2022 Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced that last Friday a Former Long Branch Police Officer was Sentenced to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison for Manufacturing Methamphetamine at his home last year.



     Christopher Walls, 50, of Long Branch was Sentenced on March 4, 2022 by The Honorable Jill G. O' Malley, who had previously Pleaded Guilty to Charges of Second Degree Causing a Risk of Widespread Injury and Third Degree Manufacturing a Controlled Dangerous Substance.


     The Prison term requires Mr. Walls to Serve a Mandatory Two Years before becoming eligible for Parole, and as part of the Plea Agreement, Walls will also permanently be Barred from Public Employment, as well as being Banned from Possessing and Purchasing Firearms.


     On May 15, 2021, Members of The Long Branch Police Department responded to a residence on The 300 Block of West End Avenue on a report of a Domestic Disturbance. Upon arrival, Police Officers were advised by another resident in the home that Mr. Walls was involved in Suspicious Narcotics Activity. The New Jersey State Police Hazmat Unit responded to the residence and discovered Materials, Chemicals and Instruments consistent with a Methamphetamine Laboratory in both his Basement and a Shed in the backyard of his home. 


     The Unit further confirmed that Mr. Walls was in Possession of Ingredients necessary to Manufacture Methamphetamine. Investigators also uncovered Meth Residue in Chemistry related Glassware in his home.


     A joint investigation by The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office and The Long Branch Police Department uncovered that Mr. Walls was further in Possession of Books related to Making Methamphetamine, Explosives and Poison.


     Additionally, Police Officers discovered a Large Unsecured Gun Safe in the home, and was found to be accessible to a Child Living there. The contents of the safe contained Two Long Guns, Four Handguns, Eight High Capacity Magazines and Large Amount of Ammunition.

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Friday, March 4, 2022 Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office is seeking The Public's Assistance in locating a 21-Year-Old woman who is Wanted for her involvement in a Child Abuse Case that has left her 3-Year-Old Daughter Gravely Injured.



     An Arrest Warrant has been issued for Shaqwana Baker. Ms. Baker's last known address is in the Bronx, New York, and Baker has recently stayed in North Bergen and Secaucus, New Jersey. 


     Ms. Baker and her boyfriend, Edward Smith, 29, of Far Rockaway, New York, have both been Charged with Second Degree Aggravated Assault; and Two Counts of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Mr. Smith was Arrested on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at The Hudson County Correctional Facility, where he was being held Pending a Detention Hearing on additional Criminal Charges.

Three Arrested In Paterson Homicide

THREE ARRESTED IN THE FEBRUARY 25, 2022 HOMICIDE OF A PATERSON WOMAN FOUND IN THE TRUNK OF A CAR

     " Justin Fisher, Ali Gibson, & Joelle Martucci All Of Totowa, New Jersey Have Been Charged In Connection To The Death Of  Stephanie DeJesus."

PATERSON, NJ.- On Thursday, March 3, 2022 Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora, Totowa Police Chief Carmen Veneziano, and Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik announced that based upon an investigation by The Paterson Police Department, in conjunction with The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, The Totowa Police Department, and The United States Secret Service Three Totowa, New Jersey residents have been Charged in connection with the Death of a Paterson woman.



     Justin Fisher, 29,; Ali Gibson, 51,; and Joelle Martucci, 24; all from Totowa, were Arrested on Monday, February 28, 2022 and Wednesday, March 2, 2022 in connection to The Homicide of Stephanie DeJesus who was discovered on Friday, February 25, 2022 at James Street and Ryerson Avenue in Paterson, New Jersey. 



     All Three, have been Charged with First Degree Murder; and First Degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder.


     On Friday, February 25, 2022, at approximately 7:56 a.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to the area of James Street and Ryerson Avenue in Paterson, New Jersey on a report of a Suspicious Vehicle. Upon arrival, Police Officers found the lifeless body of a female victim, later identified as Stephanie DeJesus, 38, of Paterson, New Jersey, inside the trunk of the vehicle. 



     Initially, her injuries appeared to be the result of a Gunshot Wound, however following an Autopsy The Medical Examiner determined that the injuries and the cause of death were the result of Blunt Force Trauma. Ms. DeJesus was pronounced deceased on the scene.


     The ensuing investigation determined that Mr. Fisher, Mr. Gibson, and Ms. Martucci were involved in the Murder of Ms. DeJesus. Ms. Martucci was Arrested without incident at Paterson Police Headquarters on Monday, February 28, 2022. Following the Filing of Charges against them, Mr. Fisher and Mr. Gibson surrendered without incident to The Passaic County Sheriff’s Office in Paterson on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. All Three are currently Detained at The Passaic County Jail.


     The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office has Filed a Motion in Superior Court to have all Three Defendants Detained pending Trial.

Trenton Man Detained On Charges

30 YEAR OLD TRENTON MAN DETAINED IN CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND SEXUAL ASSAULT CASE INVOLVING A 5 YEAR OLD CHILD

     " Kevin Pearsall Has Been Detained Pending Trial On Charges Of  Distribution & Possession Of Child Pornography & Being An Accomplice In The Sexual Assault Of A Child."

TRENTON, NJ.- On Thursday, March 3, 2022 Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri announced that an investigation into Online Child Exploitation has resulted in an Arrest and Detention of a Trenton, New Jersey man.


     Detectives with The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit recently received information from The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an individual in Mercer County was Distributing Child Pornography. 



     An investigation was initiated and Kevin Pearsall, 30, of Trenton, New Jersey was identified as a subject. 


     On Friday, February 11, 2022, Detectives with The Prosecutor’s Office detained Mr. Pearsall without incident at The Hamilton Walmart where he is employed. Mr. Pearsall’s cell phone was seized pursuant to a Court Authorized Search Warrant and approximately Thirty Videos Depicting Child Pornography were located, including one that Mr. Pearsall shared with another person. Mr. Pearsall was Charged with Second Degree Distribution of Child Pornography; Second Degree Possession with the Intent to Distribute Child Pornography; and Third Degree Possession of Child Pornography.


     Detectives continued their investigation and discovered that Mr. Pearsall and the other individual Engaged in the Exchange of Child Pornography as well as a Sexually Explicit Conversation regarding Sexual Abuse and the Sexual Exploitation of Children. 


     Additionally, Detectives obtained evidence that Mr. Pearsall actively Promoted and Directed the Sexual Assault and Abuse of a Five-Year-Old Child during the conversation with this other individual. 


     The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office filed Additional Charges against Mr. Pearsall, including Two Counts of First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault as an Accomplice; Second Degree Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Sexual Assault; and Third Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child as an Accomplice. The investigation of the individual Mr. Pearsall conversed with is active and ongoing.


     Last week, a Hearing was held in Mercer County State Superior Court and Judge Robert W. Bingham II Granted The Prosecutor’s Office motion to Detain Mr. Pearsall pending Trial.

FREEHOLD, NJ.- Last Saturday, February 25, 2022 Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced, a Howell, New Jersey woman who was previously Charged in January with swindling a former employer out of more than $2.2 Million over a Seven Year time frame, now stands accused of Stealing more than $67,000 from her next employer.


     Donna Cook, 52, has been Charged with Third Degree Theft by Unlawful Taking; Third Degree Forgery; and Third Degree False Uttering.


     After news coverage of Ms. Cook's January Arrest, her next employer, a Shrewsbury Excavating Company reviewed their Financial records. During the review it was discovered that from November 2021 through the early part of January 2022, Ms. Cook had allegedly written Multiple Checks out to cash and a Check made out to pay an personal expense, with Forged Signatures, according to authorities.


     Ms. Cook once again surrendered to authorities on Friday, February 24, 2022, and was released on a summons pending her First Appearance in Monmouth County State Superior Court.


     Ms. Cook's second Arrest, comes a little more than a week after her scheduled First Appearance in her initial case against her, which resulted in seperate Charges of Second Degree Theft, Third Degree, Third Degree Forgery, and Third Degree False Uttering in connection with Ms. Cook's actions taken while she was previously employed at a Tinton Falls Construction Company.

UPDATE: Arrest Made In Bayonne Murder

     Peter Revelo, 32, of Bayonne, has been Charged with First Degree Murder; Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Fourth Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.




     On Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at approximately 11:58 a.m., Members of The Bayonne Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call for assistance to 105 North Street. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a woman, later identified as Mely Vanessa Tafoya Mendoza, 33, of Bayonne, New Jersey with an Apparent Stab Wound to her Chest. Ms. Mendoza had succumbed to her injury and was pronounced deceased at the scene at approximately 12:36 p.m. The Cause and Manner of death are pending the findings of The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.


     Mr. Revelo was taken into custody at the scene and Charged at The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City, New Jersey. Revelo was Processed on the Charges and remanded to The Hudson County Correctional Facility pending a First Appearance and Potential Detention Hearing which will be scheduled in Hudson County State Superior Court.

PATERSON, NJ.- On Thursday, March 3, 2022 Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announced that on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at approximately 3:22 p.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department were notified that a 23-year-old Passaic, New Jersey man had arrived at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey by way of private vehicle seeking treatment for a Non-Life Threatening Gunshot Wound.


     Based upon the initial investigation, the man was walking in the area of East 33rd Street and Park Avenue when he was Struck by Gunfire.

Man Convicted In North Bergen Mass Shooting

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Wednesday, March 2, 2022, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced that yesterday, Jonathan Haughey-Morales, 30, of West New York, New Jersey was Convicted on all Charges in connection to a Shooting in North Bergen, New Jersey that occurred on May 5, 2019, that tragically Killed Carlos Garcia and left three others seriously injured.



     The Jury Convicted Mr. Haughey-Morales of First Degree Murder;  Three Counts of Second Degree Aggravated Assault; Third Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. The Verdict was delivered before The Honorable Patrick J. Arre, J.S.C. following a two week Trial.


     On Sunday, May 5, 2019, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Members of The North Bergen Police Department responded to a residence located at 2033 46th Street in North Bergen, on a report of Shots Fired. 


     Upon arrival, Police Officers found four individuals, including an unresponsive man with an apparent Gunshot Wound to his Chest, shot in the home. The man, later identified as Carlos Garcia, 40, and the additional victims, Two men and One woman were all transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center. Mr. Garcia succumbed to his injury and was subsequently pronounced deceased at approximately 4:25 a.m. 


     Mr. Haughey-Morales was identified as the suspect wanted in connection with the Shooting and apprehended in South Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania, the following day.


     Mr. Haughey-Morales is scheduled to be Sentenced on Friday, May 6, 2022, in Hudson County State Superior Court where he faces Life in New Jersey State Prison.

MORRISTOWN, NJ.- On Tuesday, March 1, 2022 Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Christoph K. Kimker, Morris County Sheriff James Gannon, and Pequannock Township Police Chief Daniel Comune announced the Arrest of Pamela Hankin, 46, of Boonton, New Jersey in connection with a Residential Fire that occurred on July 14, 2021 on Prospect Avenue.


     Ms. Hankin has been Charged with Three Counts of Second Degree Aggravated Arson; Third Degree Insurance Fraud; Third Degree Endangering Another Person; and Third Degree Animal Cruelty.


     It has been Alleged that Ms. Hankin set fire to her room at a residence where she lived with two other individuals, one of whom was still inside the home. As result of Ms. Hankin’s actions, the Structure Fire caused Structural Damage to the house and rendered it uninhabitable. This fire also caused the death of a cat. Following the Fire, Ms. Hankin Filed Insurance Claims related to the Fire.


     The Charges are a result from a collaborative investigation by The Pequannock Township Police Department, The Morris County Sheriff’s Office, and The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Arson and Environmental Crimes Unit, with the assistance of The Jackson Township Police Department and The Pequannock Township Fire Department.


     Ms. Hankin surrendered to The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office on Monday, February 28, 2022, and was Charged on a Warrant. After a First Appearance, Hankin was granted pretrial release with conditions.

TRENTON NEW JERSEY DOUBLE SHOOTING UNDER INVESTIGATION

TRENTON, NJ.- On Wednesday, March 2, 2022 Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri announced The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and The Trenton Police Department are investigating the circumstance surrounding a Tuesday afternoon Double Shooting that has left one man Dead and another woman hospitalized in Serious Condition.



     On Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Members of The Trenton Police Department responded to a Multi ShotSpotter Activation for Eleven Rounds being Fired in 1100 block of New Willow Street. 


     Upon arrival, Police Officers located a vehicle that had crashed into the side of 931 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, at The Life in The Word Outreach Ministry. The vehicle was heavily damaged and appeared to have Numerous Bullet Holes. Shimon Nesmith Jr., 19, of Trenton, was on scene suffering from gunshot wounds. Nesmith was immediately transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later. 


     A 21-year-old woman who had sustained a Gunshot Wound to the face and was transported to the hospital by way of private vehicle. The woman remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

MOUNT HOLLY, NJ.- On Tuesday, March 1, 2022 Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced that a Grand Jury sitting in Burlington County, New Jersey has returned an Indictment against Two Pemberton Township in connection with the Fatal Shooting of an 18-Year-Old Willingboro Township resident outside of his home last year.



     The Grand Jury returned the Indictment Charging  Sylas Young, 20, with First Degree Murder; First Degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder; First Degree Gang Criminality; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. The same Indictment Kavon Carter, 24, was Charged with First Degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder; and First Degree Gang Criminality and Promoting Organized Street Crime.



     The investigation began after Members of The Willingboro Township Police Department responded to the First Block of Barrington Lane on April 22, 2021, at approximately 11:30 p.m., on a report of a Shooting.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered the body of Yahsinn Robinson, 18, who was a Senior at Willingboro High School having succumbed to Multiple Gunshot Wounds. Mr. Robinson was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.


     The investigation determined that Mr. Carter and Mr. Young, and their associates from Pemberton Township, New Jersey had been involved in a long-running dispute with certain residents of the Buckingham Park section of Willingboro. The investigation determined that this shooting stemmed from an escalation of that friction. Mr. Robinson, who was returning home from his part-time job when he was Tragically Killed, and was not involved in the conflict.

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Tuesday, March 1, 2022 Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced, on Monday, February 28, 2022, Members of The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit Arrested Ali Ibrahim, 19, of Jersey City, New Jersey on Charges in connection to the Sexual Assault of a Teenage Girl he met Online. 


     The Crimes occurred at Mr. Ibrahim’s Jersey City Apartment in January and February 2022, when the victim was Thirteen and Fourteen Years Old.



     Mr. Ibrahim has been Charged with Second Degree Sexual Assault; and Third Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. After being Processed on the Charges, Ibrahim was remanded to The Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance. The Prosecutor’s Office has filed a detention motion, which is tentatively scheduled to be heard on Friday, March 4, 2022.

     The name of the man is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
