HUDSON COUNTY AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING AN EARLY MORNING FATAL STABBING IN BAYONNE

BAYONNE, NJ.- On Tuesday, March 2, 2022 Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and The Bayonne Police Department are investigating the Stabbing Death of a 33-Year-Old woman in Bayonne, New Jersey.
On Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at approximately 11:58 a.m., Members of The Bayonne Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call at 105 North Street. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a woman, later identified as Mely Vanessa Tafoya Mendoza, of Bayonne, having succumbed to an apparent Stab Wound to her Chest.
Ms. Mendoza was pronounced deceased at the scene at approximately 12:36 p.m. The Cause and Manner of Death are pending the findings of The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
A person is currently Custody and Investigators believe this is an isolated incident. Additional information may become available once released by authorities.
