MAYS LANDING, NJ.- On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, Matthew Lynch, 34, of Galloway Township, New Jersey, appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Donna M. Taylor to a term of eight years in New Jersey State Prison on two second-degree counts of narcotics offenses.

Lynch had previously entered guilty pleas to second-degree Possession with the Intent to Distribute Heroin/Fentanyl; and second-degree Possession of Heroin. The guilty pleas stem from two investigations into the distribution activities of Lynch throughout the Atlantic County area, according to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds.

On June 21, 2022, Atlantic County Authorities, along with the New Jersey State Police, executed two court-authorized search warrants. At that time, Lynch was taken into custody after he was found to be in possession of digital scales commonly used to weigh narcotics for street-level sales. Detectives also found $1,482.00 in cash, with denominations consistent with narcotics sales.

During the investigation, Detectives received information that Lynch was supplying a residence in Atlantic City with heroin and fentanyl, methamphetamine, and fentanyl pills to be distributed throughout Atlantic City on Lynch's behalf.

Throughout the months of May and June 2022, Lynch sold narcotics to one or more undercover investigators on multiple occasions within the Atlantic County area.

The total amount of heroin/fentanyl that Lynch sold to undercover investigators exceeded one-half ounce, and the total amount of methamphetamine sold exceeded one-half ounce.

Lynch was also found to be in possession of 52 wax folds of heroin on November 30, 2022, following an investigation by Detectives of the Galloway Township Police Department that resulted in his guilty plea to possession of a controlled dangerous substance, 'heroin.'

The crimes were prosecuted by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Unit in their continued effort to remove deadly narcotics from the streets of Atlantic County, New Jersey.
