22-Year-Old Was Killed Yesterday In A Work-Related Accident At Saint Magdalen Cemetery In Flemington

FLEMINGTON, NJ.- Last night, a 22-year-old Flemington, New Jersey, man was tragically killed in a work-related accident while at work at Saint Magdalen Cemetery in Flemington, New Jersey.
According to Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renee M. Robeson, on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at around 6:20 p.m., members of the Flemington Borough Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a possible work-related accident at Saint Magdalen Cemetery in the Borough.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Eonias Mateo-Perez, 22, of Flemington, New Jersey, deceased from fatal injuries he sustained while operating a wood chipper.
Detectives from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office and Investigators from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. The Prosecutor's Office determined that the death appears to be accidental in nature.
The investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Investigator into the equipment condition and what led to the death remains active.
