An Innocent Bystander Remains Hospitalized After Being Struck By Gunfire Overnight In Wildwood City

WILDWOOD, NJ.- The Cape May County Prosecutor's Office and the Wildwood Police Department are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding an overnight shooting in the City of Wildwood that has left an innocent bystander hospitalized in critical condition.


     According to the Prosecutor's Office, overnight between Tuesday, July 9, 2024, and Wednesday, July 10, 2024, members of the Wildwood Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 3800 Block of Pacific Avenue in the City of Wildwood.



     Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered that an innocent bystander had been struck by gunfire. The person was immediately transported to Atlantic Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City for treatment, where they remain hospitalized in critical condition.


     During the initial investigation, Police Officers were able to identify the suspected shooter, who at this time remains on the run.


     Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland stated, "Our priority at this time is ensuring the safety of the community and bringing this perpetrator to justice."
