Atlantic County Teen Charged In Ocean City Boardwalk Memorial Day Weekend Stabbing

OCEAN CITY, NJ.- Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland reported, that an Atlantic County, New Jersey teen was taken into custody and charged in connection with the Saturday, May 25, 2024, Ocean City Boardwalk altercation that ended with a stabbing of a teen.


     According to authorities, on Saturday, May 25, 2024, shortly before 9:15 p.m., members of the Ocean City Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an assault that had occurred on the boardwalk. 



     Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that two groups of juveniles had engaged in a fight, resulting in a juvenile being stabbed in the abdomen. The teen was immediately transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Atlantic City Division for treatment.


     A swift-moving and extensive investigation by The Cape May County Prosecutor's Office and The Ocean City Police Department was able to identify the assailant as an Atlantic County, New Jersey teen. On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, Detectives with the assistance of the Hamilton Township and Pleasantville Police Departments located the teen in Pleasantville and placed him under arrest. 


     Following the arrest, the teen was formally charged as a Juvenile Delinquent with the following offenses; first-degree Attempted Murder; second-degree Aggravated Assault; third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.


      After being processed on the charges the teen was remanded to the The County Juvenile Detention Center pending future court proceedings in Cape May County Family Court.


"The rules of the court requires us to include a statement, that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt."
