Passaic, New Jersey Woman Charged With Arson

Yesterday, A 25-Year-Old Passaic Woman Charged With The April 28th Garfield Apartment Fire

GARFIELD, NJ.- Yesterday, a 25-year-old Passaic, New Jersey woman was taken into custody and jailed following being formally charged in connection with allegedly setting a Garfield apartment on fire on Sunday, April 28, 2024.


     According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at around 10:30 a.m., members of the Garfield Police Department and the Garfield Fire Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a fire at 89 Passaic Street, Apartment 2, in Garfield, New Jersey.



     Following the initial response, and putting the fire out, the Garfield Police Officers and Fire Personnel determined that the fire appeared suspicious in nature and notified the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office of their findings. 


     An investigation was launched, Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Arson Squad and the Garfield Police Department were able to identify Allison G. Gutierrez-Tuesta, 25, of Passaic, New Jersey intentionally set the apartment on fire in two different locations, and then fled without notifying Garfield authorities.


     As a result of the investigation, on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, Gutierrez-Tuesta was taken into custody in Garfield, New Jersey, and was formally charged with second-degree Aggravated Arson; third-degree Arson; and fourth-degree Endangering the Life of Another, and Failure to Take Responsibility to Take Control Or Report a Fire.


     After being processed on the charges, Gutierrez-Tuesta was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending future Court Proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.


"The rules of the court requires us to include a statement, that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt."
