BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ.- A 27-year-old Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey man will now spend the next 12 years in New Jersey State Prison for the February 2022, knife-point robbery of a Berkeley Township Rite Aid Pharmacy.
According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on Friday, June 7, 2024, Christopher Hurley, 27, of Little Egg Harbor appeared in Ocean County Superior Court and was sentenced by the Honorable Kimarie Rahill, J.S.C. to a 12-year term in State Prison in connection with a knife-point robbery that occurred at a Rite Aid Pharmacy on February 5, 2022.
The sentence stems from an incident that began when on February 5, 2022, members of the Berkeley Township Police Department responded to the Rite Aid Pharmacy located on Route 9 in Berkeley Township after receiving a 911 Emergency Call reporting an armed robbery.
Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that an unknown man entered the store, pulled out a knife, pointed it at the cashier, and demanded money. The store staff surrendered the cash drawer to the man who fled the store.
Over the next two weeks, Detectives of the Berkeley Township Police Department were able to identify Hurley as the man who robbed the Rite Aid. Detectives further learned that Hurley had been arrested by Toms River Police Officers on an unrelated charge and had been lodged in the Ocean County Jail. On February 25, 2022, Detectives served Hurley at the Ocean County Jail with the warrant complaint for the armed robbery of the Route 9 Rite Aid.
Hurley has remained incarcerated in the Ocean County Jail, since his arrest by Officers from Toms River Police Department. On March 18, 2024, Hurley entered a guilty to the robbery charge and will be transferred to New Jersey State Prison within the next few weeks.
