64-Year-Old Former Commercial Township Man Sentenced To Prison For Sexually Assaulting A Child

COMMERCIAL TOWNSHIP, NJ.- Following being convicted on January 25, 2024, of sex crimes on a child, a 64-year-old former Commercial Township, New Jersey man learned that he will be spending the next 12 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl in 2021.
According to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae, on Friday, June 14, 2024, Marvin Stidham, 64, appeared in Cumberland County Superior Court and was sentenced by the Honorable Cristen P. D'Arrigo, J.S.C. to an extended term of 12 years in New Jersey State Prison, subject to The No Early Release Act, which will require Stidham to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole.
Judge D'Arrigo also ordered Stidham upon his release to register as a sex offender under Megan's Law requirements and will be subject to parole supervision for life.
During January's trial, the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office presented evidence that Stidham engaged in sexual contact with a 4-year-old girl in Commercial Township, New Jersey from June 1, 2021, to November 11, 2021. Following the trial, on January 25, 2024, the jury found Stidham guilty on the charges of second-degree Sexual Assault; and third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
