Teen Struck By Gunfire In Paterson Shooting

13-Year-Old Hospitalized After Being Struck By Gunfire Wednesday Afternoon In Paterson, New Jersey

PATERSON, NJ.- Passaic County Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a shooting after gunfire erupted Wednesday afternoon on a Paterson, New Jersey Street leaving a 13-year-old hospitalized from a gunshot wound.


     According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, shortly after 5:00 p.m., members of the Paterson Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a shooting in the area of Putman and Mercer Streets in the City of Paterson.



     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a 13-year-old Patterson juvenile who had sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The teen was immediately transported to Saint Joseph's University Medical Center for treatment. The teen's condition is unknown at this time.


     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as police continue to search for the gunman.
