CAMDEN, NJ.- A 76-year-old Cherry Hill man learned his fate that he would die in New Jersey State Prison after he appeared before a Camden County Superior Court Judge and was sentenced to four decades in prison for the July 2020 slashing attack and robbery of his ex-wife, who died from complications of the attack in March 2021.

According to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay, on April 3, 2024, a jury sitting in Camden County, New Jersey found Philip Puche, 76, of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, guilty of the charges of first-degree Murder; first-degree Robbery; second-degree Burglary; and third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, for the murder of his ex-wife, Nancy Kenny.

Six weeks after being convicted, on May 15, 2024, Puche appeared before a Camden County Superior Court Judge and was sentenced to 40 years in New Jersey State Prison for first-degree Murder and related offenses. The Judge ordered that the sentence be subject to The No Early Release Act which will require Puche to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole. The sentence is the equivalent of life in prison for Puche.

The conviction and sentence stem from an incident that began on July 19, 2020, at just around 10:00 a.m., when Puche attacked his ex-wife Nancy Kenny as she was entering her vehicle outside her Audubon Park, New Jersey home. During the attack, Puche slashed Ms. Kenny multiple times in her neck with a sharp object, along with other injuries to her body. Puche also took Ms. Kenny's purse during the attack.

Following the attack, Ms. Kenny was rushed to Cooper University Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery. Following an eight-month battle, on March 15, 2021, Ms. Kenny tragically succumbed to complications she sustained in the attack and passed away.
