MAYS LANDING, NJ.- A 23-year-old Atlantic City, New Jersey man will spend the next decade in State Prison after pleading guilty in Atlantic County Superior Court on Monday, May 6, 2024, to narcotics and a weapons offense in connection with a January 26, 2023 investigation.

According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, on Monday, May 6, 2024, Nahjajuan Ellis, 23, of Atlantic City, New Jersey appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and entered guilty pleas before the Honorable Donna M. Taylor, J.S.C. to the charges of first-degree Maintaining a Controlled Dangerous Substance Production Facility; second-degree Possession of Heroin and Fentanyl with the Intent to Distribute; and second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Handgun.

Under the terms of Monday's guilty plea, Ellis is expected to face a New Jersey State Prison Term of 10 years with a 42-month parole ineligibility under the Graves Act.

The guilty plea stems from an investigation that unfolded on January 26, 2023, when the Vice Unit of the Atlantic City Police Department executed a court-authorized search warrant on an apartment in Atlantic City. Before Detectives executed the search warrant, Ellis was seen leaving the apartment through the front door and was immediately detained.

During the search, Detectives found a loaded and stolen handgun and just over one half-ounce of packaged heroin and fentanyl ready for sale. Detectives also recovered paraphernalia used to package narcotics for sale, including stampers, ink pads, scales, and empty baggies. A total of $8,565 in cash was seized in denominations that are consistent with narcotics sales.

The Prosecutor's Office further reported, that in addition to pleading guilty to the offenses that arose from the search warrant, Ellis pleaded guilty to unrelated cases to two counts of Obstruction of the Administration of Justice; and one count of Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute. In return for the guilty pleas on the charges, Ellis will be sentenced concurrently to prison, to the sentence of 10 years.
