Arrest Made In Sunday Night Warinanco Park Murder

47-Year-Old Elizabeth Man Surrendered To Authorities After Being Charged For The Murder Of Linden Man

ROSELLE, NJ.- Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel reported on Friday, a 47-year-old Linden, New Jersey man surrendered to authorities in connection with the fatal shooting of a 29-year-old Linden man that occurred Sunday night in the Roselle area of Warinanco Park.


     Gerald O. Walker, 47, of Linden, New Jersey, has been formally charged with one count of first-degree Murder; one count of second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and one count of second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. 



     The charges stem from an investigation that began on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at around 8:00 p.m., members of the Union County Police Department responded to the Roselle area of Warinanco Park following receiving a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, Police Officers found Shakir Manns, 29, of Linden, New Jersey deceased from a gunshot wound.


     A swift-moving investigation by members of the Union County Homicide Task Force and the Union County Police Department were quickly able to link Walker to the area and identify him as the shooter. Following being charged a warrant was issued for Walker's arrest.


     After learning that he was wanted in connection with the murder of Mr. Manns, on Friday, May 24, 2024, Walker surrendered himself at the Elizabeth Police Department. Walker was transported to the Union County Jail where he is currently being detained pending his first appearance which has been scheduled for Sunday, May 26, 2024, in Union County Superior Court.


     The investigation remains active and ongoing.
