On Friday A 27-Year-Old Man Was Sentenced To 22 Years In Prison In 2021 Jersey City Shooting That Injured Two

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Friday, April 19, 2024, a Hudson County Superior Court Judge sentenced a 27-year-old man to 22 years in New Jersey State Prison for a Jersey City shooting that occurred on April 5, 2021, that injured two people.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, on Friday, Anthony Franklin, 27, of Jersey City, New Jersey appeared before the Honorable Carlo Abad, J.S.C., and was sentenced to 22 years in New Jersey State Prison following being convicted on February 23, 2024, on the charges of Attempted Murder; second degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and second degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
Following the guilty verdicts, Mr. Franklin pleaded guilty to second degree Certain Persons not to Possess Weapons. In return for the guilty plea, Judge Abad sentenced Franklin to an additional 7 years in State Prison that will be served concurrently with the 22-year sentence.
The conviction and sentence stem from an incident when on April 5, 2021, members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Kennedy Boulevard and Lexington Avenue in Jersey City, where upon arrival, Police Officers located two people that had been struck by gunfire.
