Man Wanted On Charges For Sexually Assaulting Preteen Apprehended After 18 Years On The Run

ELIZABETH, NJ.- Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel reported, an Elizabeth, New Jersey man who was charged in 2006 with sexually assaulting a child over two years between 2004 and 2006 was taken into custody on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, in Kissimmee, Florida, following being on the run for 18 years.
Hellarion Meneses, 49, of Elizabeth, New Jersey, was formally charged in 2006 with one count of First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; one count of Second Degree Sexual Assault; and one count of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Following an investigation in 2006, Meneses fled the jurisdiction to avoid being arrested on the charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a child who was under the age of 13 years old at the time.
Following being taken into custody by Osceola County Sheriff's Officers Meneses was lodged in the Osceola County Jail pending extradition to New Jersey.
