PARENTS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ON AN INDICTMENT ON CHILD ENDANGERMENT OFFENSES

NORTH BERGEN, NJ.- A 31-Year-Old Mother and a 35-Year-Old Father surrendered to Hudson County Authorities following a Hudson County Grand Jury returning an Indictment on Charges in connection to an incident that occurred in July 2022, that resulted in The Death of their 2-Year-Old Daughter, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.
On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, a Grand Jury sitting in Hudson County, New Jersey returned The Indictment Charging Tracy Ruiz, 31, of Greenbrook, New Jersey, on Charges of Second Degree Aggravated Assault; and Two Counts of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Ruiz was Taken into Custody on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at The Hudson County Administration Building in Jersey City, New Jersey.
The Indictment further Charged Luis Larios, 35, of Greenbrook, New Jersey with Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Larios was Taken into Custody on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office in Secaucus, New Jersey.
The Indictment and The Arrests stem from an Incident when on July 7, 2022, Members of The Nort Bergen Police Department responded to a Dane Court Residence after receiving a report of an Injured Child. Upon arrival, Police Officers found an Unresponsive 2-Year-Old Girl on The Floor of a Bedroom inside the Dane Court Apartment.
The Toddler was immediately transported to Hackensack University Medical Center in Critical Condition and tragically succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased on July 23, 2022.
During the course of The Investigation, Detectives determined the Child had sustained Traumatic Injuries. During the initial response, Police Officers found Three Additional Children in The Apartment, which was in an unsanitary condition.
