Mount Holly Woman Sentenced To Prison For Killing Her Boyfriend With Her Car

35-YEAR-OLD MOUNT HOLLY WOMAN SENTENCED TO TEN YEARS IN PRISON FOR AGGRAVATED MANSLAUGHTER

     "Tina C. Lewis Has Been Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison For Running Her Boyfriend Over With Her Car While Drunk In September Of 2021."

MAYS LANDING, NJ.- Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds reported, that on Thursday, February 29, 2024, an Atlantic County Superior Court Judge Sentenced Tina C. Lewis, 35, of Mount Holly, New Jersey, to a Term of Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison for The Charge of Aggravated Manslaughter. The Sentence is Subject to The No Early Release Act.



     On September 14, 2023, Ms. Lewis Pleaded Guilty to First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter. The Plea was an Open Plea which gave The Court the Discretion to Sentence Ms. Lewis to Five Years to Thirty Years in State Prison Subject to The No Early Release Act.


     During Thursday's Hearing, The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office argued for a Term of Fifteen Years, and The Defense argued for The Downward Departure to have Ms. Lewis Sentenced to a Second Degree Charge of Aggravated Manslaughter with a Term of Five Years in Prison, due to no prior Criminal History.


     The Sentence stems from an investigation that began on September 24, 2021, when Ms. Lewis and her Boyfriend, Graig Everett, arrived at Recovery Centers for America in Mays Landing, New Jersey. After arriving, Ms. Lewis refused to Enter the Treatment Center. As Mr. Everett attempted to get her into the Rehabilitation Center, Ms. Lewis reentered her vehicle from the passenger side and climbed over the center console into the Driver's Seat. Once Mr. Everett was in The Passenger Seat, Ms. Lewis Drove away from The Rehabilitation Center turning right onto Atlantic Avenue, where Mr. Everett got out of The Vehicle and began walking on the grass area of the Road's Shoulder.


     Ms. Lewis' Vehicle drove off the Roadway and onto the grass area, Striking and Running over Mr. Everett. Ms. Lewis briefly stopped and ultimately Fled the Scene returning to The Treatment Center where she denied knowing what happened to Mr. Everett. Lewis had a Blood Alcohol Concentration of .22%. The Investigation revealed Mr. Everett suffered Multiple Skull Factures, a Brain Hemorrhage, Rib Fractures, Leg Fracture, and a Pelvic Fracture. Mr. Evverett succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased the next day, September 25, 2021.
