Little Egg Harbor Man Pleads Guilty In Berkeley Township Robbery

 LITTLE EGG HARBOR MAN WILL SPEND THE NEXT TWELVE YEARS IN PRISON FOR KNIFEPOINT ROBBERY

     "Christopher Hurley Has Pleaded Guilty To The February 2022, Knifepoint Robbery Of A Ocean County Rite Aid Pharmacy."

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ.- A 27-Year-Old Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey man will spend the next Twelve Years in New Jersey State Prison after Pleading Guilty earlier today on a Charge of Robbery for The February 2022 Knifepoint Robbery of a Berkeley Township Rite Aid.



     According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on Monday, March 18, 2024, Christopher Hurley, 27, of Little Egg Harbor appeared before The Honorable Kimarie Rahill, J.S.C., and Entered a Plea of Guilty to To Robbery, in connection with an Armed Robbery that occurred on February 5, 2022, at a Local Pharmacy in Berkely Township, New Jersey.


     In return for The Guilty Plea, The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office has requested that Mr. Hurley be Sentenced to a Term of 12 Years in New Jersey State Prison. The Sentence will be Subject to The No Early Release Act, which will require Hurley to Serve Eighty-Five Percent of his Custodial Term before becoming Eligible for Parole. Sentencing has been Scheduled for June 7, 2024, in Ocean County Superior Court.


     The Guilty Plea stems from when on February 5, 2022, Members of The Berkeley Township Police Department responded to an Armed Robbery at The Rite Aid Pharmacy on Route 9 in The Township. Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that a man had entered the Store, pulled a Knife on The Cashier, and Demanded Money. Store Employees surrendered the Cash Drawer to the man who Fled the Store.


     Detectives of The Berkeley Township Police Department conducted an extensive investigation and were able to Identify Hurley as The Suspect and the Individual responsible for The Robbery. Berkeley Township Detectives learned that Hurley had been Arrested by Police Officers of The Toms River Township Police Department on an unrelated matter on February 22, 2022, and was Lodged in The Ocean County Jail. On February 25, 2022, Detectives served Hurley with The Warrant Complaint at The Ocean County Jail. 


     Hurley has remained detained since his arrest on February 22, 2022, and upon Sentencing, he will be transferred to The New Jersey State Department of Corrections.
